French term

attelage

French to English Other Sports / Fitness / Recreation Horses
Des manifestations sportives sont organisées sur le terrain à proximité immédiate de l'hôtel dont notamment deux jumping par an (un national et un international) et un concours d'attelage.

I know nothing about horses and am afraid this is a very specialized term. TIA

agree Charlie Bavington : Yep - this it what Prince Philip (the Duke of Edinburg) does in his spare time - google his name (e.g. Prince Philippe for French) and the Fr & Eng terms and you'll see this is spot on.

Driving

I've no idea about horses either, but this is what I found.
Peer comment(s):

agree David Goward : I've hidden my suggestion (harness racing) as I think you've got the right answer. Carriage driving is akin to eventing, I believe, whereas harness racing is obviously a race with many competitors running at the same time.

horse driving trial

Just look up "horse driving trial" on Google
Peer comment(s):

agree Rachel Davenport : Driving is the right word. But this is a 'concours' as you say so you need to call it either a trial or event. Horses is not really necessary as we know that we are talking about horses - show jumping is mentioned before. I'd opt for event and not trial.
