I've no idea about horses either, but this is what I found.

: I've hidden my suggestion (harness racing) as I think you've got the right answer. Carriage driving is akin to eventing, I believe, whereas harness racing is obviously a race with many competitors running at the same time.

: Driving is the right word. But this is a 'concours' as you say so you need to call it either a trial or event. Horses is not really necessary as we know that we are talking about horses - show jumping is mentioned before. I'd opt for event and not trial.
