For me, this is "une soiree". Are there other alternatives? (To tell you the truth, I've always been suspicious of the term "dinner party". I mean, it's either a dinner (which can go on for a long time and be festive), or it's a party...I've always considered this a weak Americanism, akin to"luncheon", a truly vile word.
