(Kelly, Bud and Buck are standing outside the carwash, in front of flashing sign that says HOT WAX.)
BUD
You know, Kel, I've always wondered. Does that hot carnauba wax really come out when the light comes on?
KELLY
Gee, Bud, maybe you should save those mind-bending incites for a date. Or perhaps a willing rubber ear.
BUD
I'm sorry, Kel. I forgot that the only talking that goes on in your dates is, "Keep the line moving."
What is so "deep" about Bud's line? Does it sound like a lame pick-up line or am I off track? Thanks!

pseudo deep question to ponder
some people ponder the meaning of life...but Bud ponders something "deep" like "does wax really come out when the light goes on"? or is it just a sham?
not a very interesting (or deep) question
her response: save those "mind-bending insights" for a date - like MAYBE there is someone out there who is willing to listen to that crap but it ain't me? she obviously doesn't like him and they are trading insults

: Yes, it's one of those pointless questions like "does the light stay on inside after you close the 'fridge door?"

Sarcasam?
Without having the episode in front of me, several possibilites:
1. He was making an inane comment cause he was bored
2. He wanted yet again to show Kelly how stupid she was with his comment.
3. It was a serious question.
Hard to tell which one of the three is right..however, Kathy's comment is right on, Kelly can't answer it..and she doesn't care to. :)

If his question is serious... Well, how can it be serious? It bears no reference to anything that goes on in the episode, at all.
